Project Overview

In Buhoma village everything has come to a halt since the covid-19 pandemic. Usually people make their living from tourists coming here to see the gorillas. The project is designed to help the people have a new source of income during the crisis. With the construction of a Webshop, the artists in Buhoma will have a chance to sell their art all over the world. From each sale a percentage goes into an existing project to buy food other families.

Helping Buhoma to help itself

With this project, people in Buhoma should be given the chance to help themselves through the Covid-19 crisis. The talent of the artists in the village is impressive. We should support their dream of having a Webshop to share their art with the world. A percentage of each sale will go into a fund to support other families in the village with no income during the pandemic.
I'm the proud owner of an amazing gorilla-painting already.

Protecting the gorillas by supporting the people

To protect the mountain gorillas, it is important to ensure that the people in the area have a direct benefit. Up until now the people have been able to make a living from ecotourism. But because of the Covid-19 pandemic this is currently not possible. This project is designed to bridge the gap. Let's support the people and protect the gorillas!

Who we are:

Since my early childhood I've been fascinated by gorillas. In 2013 I travelled to Uganda to see them in the wild. It was very impressive, and I'll never forget it. Just recently I bought a painting from an artist in Buhoma - a small village next to the Bwindi Nationalpark - to support his family during the Covid-19 crisis. So the idea of starting this project was born: The many talented artists living in Buhoma want to create a webshop to be able to sell their art all over the world. A percentage of each sale will go into a fund to support other families with food.
