Water is essential to life and clean source of water is essential to health and well-being. Moreover, universal access to safe and adequate water supply and sanitation has been recognized as a human right.
However, some communities do not have clean source of water, making them susceptible to water-borne diseases. This is the story of a community in Sito Mugos, in Bondoc Peninsula, around 6-7 hours drive from the capital, Manila, Philippines. As shown in some of the photos here, the residents of this village use open dug well as source of water for different household uses. These hand-dug wells are potential health hazard because water is exposed to contaminations and pollutants.
Our goal is to raise enough fund for the construction of a deepwell with water pump to provide clean and safe water source for residents of Sitio Mugos, all year-round.
