When I see children suffering, my heart bleeds. I find it bad enough if the children don't receive love from the parents, but when I compare it to the children in Cambodia, who don't see their parents at all because they have to work to be able to survive, then my heart doesn’t bleed, but screams out loud to me «You must do something for them!» So many children can’t go to school and must work hard. In the evening, they look for anything possible that can be eaten. They catch rats, dogs, rabbits, etc. ... The main thing is, that it is edible. Showers are carried out in the river and they sleep on the streets. If they are unlucky, they end up in a beggar syndicate and get hurt, so that the tourists give them money, because they feel sorry for the child that has a burnt scar on the face. But the money goes only to the syndicate. With your help, I want to try to prevent this from happening. We can't help everyone, but everyone can help someone.
The money I want to raise together goes to the Smiling Gecko organization and trough them, to a poor child.
Smiling Gecko uses the money for poor people in Cambodia. With their different projects, they provide meals, a home to live in and a school to get an education.
Their goals are:
- To combat hunger and poverty
- School, Vocational Education and Training for Young Cambodians
- Benefits for the Community
- Economics
- Ecology

Hello :) I am Valerie and am leading the Donate a Smile project as my final school year project. I will put my heart and soul in it and want to move as many people as possible, to help the less fortunate. There are far too many people in this world suffering and my goal is to be able to help a fraction of them. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world. In the capital Phnom Penh alone, tens of thousands of children live on the streets. I hope that with your help, I can give a child the opportunity to have an education.
