Project Overview

With your help, we hope to be able to fulfil the dream of two exceptional young women who came to our children's village 10 years ago very poor and without a family and grew up there. With diligence, ambition and determination, Lisa and Sreyna have qualified for university. They are striving for an economically independent life and want to make a valuable contribution to the development of their country.

The upkeep of the children's village and the street children's programme is financed by membership fees, donations, sponsorships, public funds and fundraising activities by the Swiss association ‘Empowering underprivileged children’ (EUC) and covers the schooling and vocational training of the children and young people.
We want to make the dream of studying possible for those pupils who fulfil the high requirements and want to go to university. The effect on the motivation of other children cannot be overestimated. Only a few children qualify for university, but the knowledge that it is a possible path to the future motivates all children in their daily learning.
However, the costs of tuition fees and materials, accommodation, transport and living expenses cannot be covered by KKEV's annual budget, but must be financed separately through donations. This year, with your help, we hope to enable two exceptional young women to study. With diligence, ambition and determination, Lisa and Sreyna have qualified for university and would like to study Public Administration and Khmer Literature respectively in Phnom Penh. They aspire to an economically independent life and both want to make a valuable contribution to the development of their country later on.
Without a family behind them and without any financial resources, the two of them are dependent on help from people like you. With your donation, you can give them the chance to study at university and cover their living costs for the duration of their bachelor's degree. This investment in education is not only a gift to the two young women, but also to the younger children in the children's village, who will see that effort pays off.
A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration and Khmer Literature will enable the two talented young women to realise their dreams and become motivating role models for the younger children of KKEV. As adults, they want to support future generations, promote access to education and contribute to the development of their country.
With your donation, you will help to finance the tuition fees, books, materials and living expenses of the two students for the next four years. Every contribution, whether small or large, brings them a step closer to their goal.
Kinderhilfe Kambodscha (KKEV) accompanies and supports children and young people in difficult circumstances on their way to emotional stability, social participation and economic independence. KKEV Cambodia has been running a children's village for 100 children aged between 2 and 20 years and a street children's programme for up to 120 children in Phnom Penh for 20 years. In the children's village, children from neglected backgrounds without reliable family structures find a permanent, safe and caring home until they have completed public school and can stand on their own two feet. In the street children programme, 120 children receive school support and a daily meal.
All children attend a public school and receive additional educational support so that they can complete school and complete an apprenticeship or, if necessary, go to university. At the end of their time at KKEV Cambodia, the young adults are financially and emotionally independent.

What does EUC do?

'Empower Underprivileged Children' (EUC) is a Swiss non-profit organisation with a focus on supporting “KKEV Cambodia” (Kinderhilfe Kambodscha) through various fundraising activities.

What does KKEV Cambodia do?

Kinderhilfe Kambodscha (KKEV) is committed to helping children in difficult circumstances, accompanying and supporting them on their way to emotional stability, social participation and economic independence. KKEV Cambodia has been running two facilities in Phnom Penh for 20 years: a children's village for 100 children between the ages of 2 and 20 and a street children's programme for up to 120 children.

In the children's village, children from neglected backgrounds without caring family structures live permanently in a safe and caring home until they have completed public school and can stand on their own two feet. In the “Street Children Programme”, 120 children receive school support and a daily meal.

All of the children attend public school, but due to their difficult social background, they need targeted educational support so that they can complete their schooling and complete an apprenticeship or, in future, go to university. At the end of their time at KKEV Cambodia, the young adults are able to stand on their own two feet - financially and emotionally.

My husband Stephan and I lived in Asia for many years with our five children. Since then, we have supported the work of KKEV Cambodia to help children from extreme poverty and the most difficult living conditions to have a future with real opportunities. KKEV was founded 20 years ago by my husband's uncle who, due to his age, has now handed over the reins to us. I am on the board of Kinderhilfe Kambodscha e.V. and together we founded the Swiss organization EUC.
