fiberstorm
The toolbox for sustainable fashion & textiles is expanding
Project Overview
fiberstorm makes the (fashion) world a better place. fiberstorm consists of me and a digital toolbox for textiles and designers to learn about ecologically and fairly produced materials, including different approaches to concepts of sustainability. Now I want to go one step further with fiberstorm and share a lot more knowledge as an official company, but I can't do it alone. Help me!
Funding goals
-
Stage 1:
10.000 CHF
100% funded
The first 10000 CHF will enable fiberstorm to start the podcast and launch the blog. This means that technical equipment and fees for the podcast can be paid and in-depth research can be done.
-
Stage 2:
20.000 CHF
100% funded
Yay! With the additional 10000 CHF the consulting service will finally be built up. Furthermore, the fiberstorm GmbH will be founded at the same time, so that fiberstorm can really get started as a Start-Up!
-
Finish Stage:
30.000 CHF
0% funded
Incredible! fiberstorm can make huge steps forward! With 30000 CHF also the documentary film of the educational trip will be possible. Furthermore, the fiberstorm website can be revised with it, so that it becomes clearer and even more informative. The achieved amount will be invested in salary payments to various freelancers in the fields of video, computer science, and communication, as well as in my research work.
I am personally convinced that we as a society can only achieve sustainable development if we share our knowledge and support each other, this is the principle I live and work by.
In addition, I plan to further deepen my expertise at my own expense with a five-month research journey and a master's degree starting in 2023, because I am convinced that we all never stop learning. These advanced trainings will enable me to qualitatively perfect my offer, as well as to expand and provide my worldwide network.
About the research journey: After much theoretical research, it is time for me to match my knowledge with reality. The research journey starts in India (focus on cotton, silk, faborg, kapok and handicraft), continues in Mexico (focus on handicraft and natural fibers) and Peru (focus on alpaca) and ends in Brazil (focus on material innovations and rubber).
In addition, it is planned to give a free workshop at design schools in each of the different countries - thus I will learn about the necessities and hurdles regarding sustainable design in other countries and the students will get an input on alternative design approaches.
- 2'500 CHF administrative fees for founding a limited company
- 5'000 CHF investment in technical equipment
- 30'000 CHF wages in the first year
- 8'500 CHF fixed costs first year (website fees, trademark protection, accounting, etc)
- 14'000 CHF website development
Half of this is already organized: Equity and private interest-free loan. For the still missing 30'000 CHF I am depending on your help.
Hello, good e-meet you!
My name is Mara and I am an expert for sustainability in fashion and (concept) designer. Originally I studied fashion design, but I already noticed during my studies, the intersection of design, materials and sustainability, that's what I'm actually interested in. Therefore, there are no "collections of Mara" but something much more satisfying (at least for me): fiberstorm!
"I, Mara Rodriguez, am committed to making the world a better place," is how the fiberstorm manifesto ends. And although this is a big ambition, this motto keeps me going, drives me to make more and better things happen. And one thing is very clear to me: Not a few people have to do everything perfectly, but we all have to do it just a little bit better.
I dream of a world in which not organic cotton but cotton contaminated with pesticides is labeled, in which people on the other side of the world are not exploited for our overconsumption, and in which transparency, not lies and half-truths, wins out.
I am ready to fully engage myself so that we can encounter fashion with more joy again! And how about you? Are you ready to support me?
