Revolutionary reforestation: millions of trees by drones!

Project Overview

✨The goal of Flyingwoodland is to use drone technology to reforest forests that have been destroyed by forest fires and clear-cutting with a newly developed seeding mechanism. The natural pelleting of the seeds increases the germination rate, protects them from animals and serves as a water buffer. The possibility of planting millions of trees every year could become a reality thanks to you. πŸ™πŸ’šπŸŒ²

Funding goals

  1. Stage 1:

    20.000 CHF

    35% funded

By reaching the first stage, Flyingwoodland will be able to purchase a specialised agricultural drone, attach the reforestation mechanism to it and begin the first test flights. That would be the first and most important step on the road to a greener future! πŸ’š

  2. Stage 2:

    30.000 CHF

    0% funded

If you reach the second stage, you will enable Flyingwoodland to officially register as a non-profit limited company that works in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Your support makes it possible to take the vision even further. πŸ™

  3. Stage 3:

    40.000 CHF

    0% funded

With the reaching of the third stage, the newly developed mechanism for reforestation can be patented in order to protect the innovation.

  4. Stage 4:

    55.000 CHF

    0% funded

If we reach the fourth stage of CHF 55'000 together, you will be able to optimise and improve the mechanism and purchase additional accessories for the drone (software, batteries, etc.).

  5. Finish Stage:

    100.000 CHF

    0% funded

If we reach the target of CHF 100'000 together, you will enable Flyingwoodland to buy a seed coating machine to produce our own seed pellets.

If we raise even more than CHF 100'000, all additional donations will go directly into the further development and optimisation of the dropping mechanism and into future reforestation projects.

Thank you very much for your generous support on this exciting journey! πŸ’šπŸ™

Dying trees, drying forests and the effects of globalisation on our natural habitats are issues of growing urgency and global importance. At a time when the earth is facing ecological challenges, it is becoming increasingly important to understand the connections between these problems and find sustainable solutions.

- More environmental protection
- Creating jobs
- Fight against climate change
- Rapid, large-scale reforestation possible, e.g. after wildfires
- More safety during reforestation
- Reforestation possible in remote areas
- More cost-effective than conventional manual planting of seedlings
- Promotion of biodiversity

First, the area that is to be reforested is analysed to identify the area and the tree species that will be used. The analysis can also be carried out using a drone, which is known as mapping. This allows a high-resolution 3D terrain model to be created.

When seeding from the air, it is useful if the seed is provided with organic additives, e.g. nutrients, fungi (mycorrhiza) or other microorganisms to promote growth. This is why these are used in the production of the seed pellets.

The flight paths are then pre-programmed so that several drones can work simultaneously.

The final step after sowing is monitoring to evaluate success and, if necessary, to plan additional steps.

πŸ”₯ Here are a few impressive features that make it so special:

- Thanks to modern 3D printing technology and lightweight construction, the 550 mm x 160 mm x 300 mm seeding mechanism (without drone) weighs only 2.8 kilograms.

- no matter how small or large the seeds - the mechanism can distribute them all precisely and over a large area with the help of gravity.

- The entire system is up to 10 times faster than conventional manual planting (the sowing and flying speed of the drone is up to 10m/s).

- With a self-developed feeding system that delivers a Torque up to 35 Nm, the mechanism is robust and reliable in any situation.

- The mechanism is designed to be easy to maintain and repair.

With your support, this innovative mechanism can be further developed and used to reforest nature faster and more effectively. Let's make a significant difference together!

According to a study by ETHZ (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich), around one billion hectares of additional forest would be needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2050. That would be about a third more forest worldwide than today. These reforestation efforts could not only help combat the climate crisis, but also create jobs and curb ecological devastation and erosion.

The goal of Flyingwoodland is to offer favourable and rapid reforestation in order to reforest a large area after forest fires and deforestation in order to prevent soil erosion (desertification). In addition, Flyingwoodland wants to offer under-sowing, whereby new sustainable tree species are implemented in existing forests.
