We want to provide a transitory, comprehensive home with all necessary services and support programmes for up to 15 unaccompanied, most vulnerable refugee and migrant children under the age of 15, who need special care and support that can’t be provided in the large collective centres or children who live currently on the streets. These children are mostly orphans or half-orphans which fled alone.
With this Crowdfunding we finance the acquisition and renovation of the house in Loznica, Serbia.

The house in Loznica costs around CHF 82'000.- (EUR 67'000.-). We collected already CHF 20'000.-. Therefore, there will be a remaining amount which we can pay with 2 rates à CHF 31'000.- each. Afterwards, we need around CHF 20'000.- to make the house appropriate for children and handicapped accessible. Furthermore the 3rd stage is also to finance funrniture, alarm system, smoke detector and other security measures.

With the house our project will start, but this is only the beginning of the project. The children will need nutrition, clothes, hygienic articles, education and leisure activities. Every Swiss Franc, which will over-exceed our Crowdfunding goal, will be used to finance these costs for the children. Every further CHF 10'000 will guarantee 1 spot for a child - which means we need beside CHF 82'000.- for the house, another CHF 150'000.- for the first year for the children.

I am the founder and CEO of the Swiss nonprofit Borderfree Association. I founded this organisation because I know what it means to be a refugee and to live in constant fear: I myself arrived in Switzerland as a refugee when I was a little child.
We have been active in refugee camps in Serbia for almost three years now and we help wherever our help is needed. The idea for House of Rescue was proposed when the Serbian government asked us to open a home for unaccompanied child refugees because they currently live in very alarming circumstances among the general population of the camps or on the streets, even though they are minors. These children are not safe where they are now: they are physically, mentally and sexually abused. It is imperative that they need to be protected.
This project is especially close to my heart because with this house we shelter those who need it the most: Unaccompanied refugee children. They deserve to sleep safe and sound at night.
