Operation for a sick mom

I am a volunteer in a day centre for migrants where I got to know Mr Salloum, a Syrian refugee who arrived in Switzerland in September 2016. His family is in Damascus, Syria, and he is extremely worried about them. His wife, Hanan Awad, 37 years, suffers from a serious cardiac condition and urgently needs an operation. She takes care of their two children, Amir 5 years et Noor 3 years. The hospitals in Damascus are over-loaded and haven't been able to accept Hanan. Her only option is to go to a private hospital in Damascus, or in the neighboring Jordan or Lebanon. But a precise diagnosis ís very expensive, approximately CHF5000 and an operation at least CHF7000. The family cannot afford to pay for them.

Let's help one Syrian mother so that she can get better and continue to take care of her children! Mr Salloum will be very grateful for every single donation, big or small.

Anna: Hello, my name is Anna. I volunteer here in Geneva at a day centre for migrants, so for refugees and asylum seekers. Here I have met Mr Salloum a few months ago who arrived in Switzerland in September (2016). Mr Salloum is from Syria. I wanted to help Mr Salloum as his situations is quite difficult. Mr Salloum, can you tell me about your family?
Mr Salloum: Thank you for your this.. help and work with you. I am from Syria, doctor and have another diploma. I worked in Damascus and then I worked in Yemen, university in Yemen. After that I came to Geneva. I have a women (wife), I don’t know what happened to her but she is sick from the heart for 10 years. One day I don’t know what happened to her, her head turn… she lost her (consciousness) and fell to the earth. I take her to the doctor, he said she has problem with her heart. She wants operation, medical… She is not good. Before two weeks she take baby, I don’t know what happened but she fell down. She (dropped) the baby and she (the baby) broke her leg.
Anna: So just to summarise, you are married, your wife is very ill for 10 years already, she has a heart disease, some kind of heart disease. She has been feeling very unwell in the recent months. Mr Salloum is very worried about her. Just recently, she was feeling very dizzy and she fell, she had one of his children in her arms and the child broke (her) leg. So we are looking for help for your wife specifically so that she can get better and take care of her children. What kind of treatment would she need?
Mr Salloum: Madam, you know very well what happened in Syria. Now it has been 6 years war in Syria. Before we had hospital for government, no problem, we get money, government help, all good. Now no one can give (even) 1 franc because everyone want eat: no food, no clothes, no milk, no yoghourt…
Anna: So we are looking for help from anyone who can give any money, either big donation or small donation, but all help is welcome to help Mr Salloum’s wife to get better so that she can take care of their children. Thank you!
