Project Overview

After the pandemic, the financial situation is very tense for many families due to high unemployment, galloping inflation and a lack of tourists. With a school fee fund, we want to continue to provide as many children as possible with a sustainable school education. Parents can submit one application for support per school year. The applications are then examined accordingly by the school management and the association.

The school fund is used to finance school fees for children from financially disadvantaged families. 6,000.- can support around 30 children for 2 years.
The privately run Syed Sahab Memorial School is a great need for the region, which is already suffering greatly from the conflict with Pakistan and the poor support from the Indian central government. Unfortunately, the public schools do not meet the requirements for a good education.
The school was founded 11 years ago by Christine Hüttinger and Manzoor Khuroo with the aim of providing the children in the Dagpora area with a better education. The extraordinarily successful graduation of the students at the end of their school years shows that the school is doing a good job.
Before the pandemic, the school taught up to 250 students. Since the pandemic, there are only about 170. Parents are having more and more problems raising the necessary school fees. The school does not receive any support from the state.

I would like to support the school so that the school remains open for children in Dagpora.

As a former teacher, education is close to my heart. In Kashmir too, it is the key to a more hopeful future for the rising generation. I am committed to ensuring that this path is open to as many young people as possible.

Since I first came to Dagpora in Kashmir in 2001, I have felt the desire to share something of my privileged life in Switzerland with these people who have experienced a lot of hardship. In Switzerland, many educational paths are open to us. I have also benefited from this. It is important to me to give children from financially weak and educationally disadvantaged families access to a sustainable, personality-building education and thus nourish hope for a better future.
