The high level of poverty in developing countries has a significant impact on youth and especially young women.
A low level of education affects the life course of girls in several ways. Either by getting married early or having children early without being ready for it. The precariousness of this new situation leads some of these new single mothers to prostitution or to immigrate to Europe to have a better life and to cover their children's school fees.
According to the UIS (Unesco Institute for Statistics) report, 129.2 million girls were out of school worldwide in 2018, including 96.9 million of secondary school age.
Consequence: A high rate of migration between 2017 and 2020 assisted 8,497 Ivorian migrants in their voluntary return, according to IOM, the United Nations agency responsible for migration, of which 21% were women.
This situation highlights the existing gender inequalities and equity issues in accessing quality education.
This project consists of helping single mothers in need by giving them qualified training in sewing, hairdressing and other trades of their choice and at the end of the training, providing them with sewing or hairdressing tools to start their own business. The income of each will enable them to support themselves and send their children to school.
The project will be carried out in 2 phases:
• Training single mothers in sewing or hairdressing.
• Supply of sewing or hairdressing and installation tool kits.
the total cost of training and setting up a single mother is 600 euros.
The pilot project made it possible to set up 10 single mothers who currently have an average monthly benefit of 500 euros.
We have 150 on the waiting list and with your help we hope to be able to help at least 50 or more single moms, if not all at once. the 1st single helping mother voluntarily contributes to the financing of others.
NB: The choice of the hairdressing and sewing professions is made by the group of these young single mothers because of the significant and regular financial income generated in these sectors. This could quickly strengthen them.
