Project Overview

Camping is awesome, right? But we do also like comfort. To not miss out on beautiful night skies and sunrises we want to create a special outdoor experience for ourselves and others. The idea is to build a mobile tiny house that can be booked for overnight stays in Eastern Switzerland. Our project is also about supporting sustainable tourism.

Current state

The plans are drawn, agreements between our architect, the carpenter and the electrician are in progress and we are in the process of clarifying the final details. We've already got the trailer, all windows and the door for the house. Now we are getting down to the nitty-gritty and would like to order the first materials to start building.

The construction

The foundation of the house is a car trailer (5 m x 2 m). On top of it is a wood construction with a tilting roof planned. The Tiny House is mobile through the trailer and can change its location. The house should fit well into nature and should be equipped only with the most essential things.
We want to focus on using local and recycled materials whenever possible. Where craftsmanship expertise, such as in stove construction, is needed we'll consider regional companies.

The interior

Due to the tilting roof, there is a 1st floor. The bed is located there. Thus, the whole area of the trailer can be used as living space. Moreover, the bed can be slid out of the trailer under the open sky: close to the view and the stars.
A chest of drawers will be converted into a kitchen, and a wood-burning stove provides cozy hours on cold days. Electricity is generated by solar panels on the roof, which is sufficient for the low demand of electricity. Furthermore, the house contains a bio-toilet and an outdoor shower.

Overnight and breakfast

The tiny house can be booked for overnight stays. We are happy to prepare optional breakfast for our guests. When choosing products we decide on local producers and prepare big parts of the food ourselves.

The team

We are two close friends who share common passions. To be able to make this dream come true, we have brought professionals into our team. Fabio has studied architecture and Junis is in training as a carpenter and has already realized several projects of this kind. With Ramon, we also have a suitable person for the electrics at hand.

Cost recovery

With the amount of CHF 23,000, we want to be able to cover all costs: construction with local and recycled materials, transport and the parking lot for the trailer as well as the helping hands.

I'm Patrizia, 25 years old and I live in the Rhine Valley close to St.Gallen. I work as a healthcare professional and I study prevention & health psychology on the side. I enjoy exploring nutrition, cooking, and trying out new food creations. Sports and nature are central aspects of my life. Sleeping under the stars on a mountain, with my rubber boat on a lake, or on my balcony are some of my favorite activities. One of my personal dreams is to design a house according to my preferences and make simplicity and closeness to nature accessible to myself and others. Let's seek and find beauty right outside our doorstep!

Queen of handicrafts, storm of ideas, feel good manager

My name is Anastasia and I'm also 25 years old. I work as a bike messenger in St. Gallen city and currently study Multilingual Communication in Spanish and English at ZHAW. Leaving home by bike, finding a place to sleep outdoors, and waking up to the sound of birds chirping is what provides me with balance. I also enjoy working on second-hand furniture, clothing, and reviving rooms. Since my professional education in the hospitality industry, I've always had the desire to create a different kind of accommodatio than the typical hotel. I'd like to share this other kind of "hotel" and the associated philosophy with others.
