Thousand Books
Education prospects for children in Ukraine
Project Overview
Children and adolescents in Ukraine need hope and opportunities in times of war. With your support, I would like to motivate young people in my home village of Putylovychi to read by modernizing the school library. Education is the key to a self-determined life.
Funding goals
-
Stage 1:
18.000 CHF
100% funded
In the first stage, at least 1000 new books will be purchased for the library in Putylovychi. Some of the new books will be more focused on the specific needs of children and young people in relation to schoolwork and the classroom, and some will be bought to update and supplement the library's stock with new books from other various, non school-related subject areas, such as children books, literary classics, and other non-fiction books. In addition, regular events such as book circles or story time will be set up, aimed at promoting the joy of reading among children and adolescents.
-
Stage 2:
26.000 CHF
100% funded
The second stage improves the equipment and infrastructure of the library with specific measures so that it becomes a creative hub and meeting place. This will happen through the purchase and installation of selected equipment such as a modern sewing machine or a paper/fabric cutter. The library will also be supplied with a basic stock of craft materials over a longer period of time. In addition, comfortable reading places and workstations will be created and the lighting situation will be optimized.
-
Stage 3:
30.000 CHF
42% funded
In the third stage, the library will be further supplemented with creative educational material such as "Lego Spike Prime" or "Ozobot", which can be used to teach children and adolescents basic programming skills in a playful way. In addition to this, individual teachers will be instructed and workshops for school children will be organized.
-
Finish Stage:
31.000 CHF
0% funded
Every additional donation will facilitate a lasting success of the project.

Many thanks to everyone who has supported the project in any way.
I was born in and grew up in Ukraine. I have been living in Switzerland since 2014. I studied education at the University of Zurich and have been working in the libraries of the city of Winterthur for six years. As an educationalist and librarian, I know that libraries consist of more than books. Libraries are places of knowledge, creativity, and dreams. With your help, I would like to support the library in my home village with ideas, an attractive book collection, and improvements in the infrastructure. The people in Putylovychi will greatly appreciate this support.
