It's winter in Cape Town and the cold storms are hitting the township people living on the city outskirts very hard. Especially those living in informal settlements (see video below).
Philisa Abafazi Bethu is a local NGO/NPO which operates in the township of Lavender Hill, providing the community social services such as help for abused women and children, afterschool-programmes, community gatherings for the elderly people and food delivery.
Right now, they urgently need your help for their annual winter drive which provides warm clothing and blankets for the poorest families in the community. As the winterstorms are hitting the townships pretty hard, renewal of structures is also needed.
Thanks a lot for your donations - they really benefit families in need!
About the documentary: I'm producing this film as part of my master thesis at the University of Lucerne. The goal is to show the everyday challenges of people living in a typical Cape Town township. Lavender Hill serves as an example showing problems like gang violence, unemployment and domestic violence. I'm talking to township residents in the informal settlements, business owners, taxi drivers, community activists, policemen and so on.
The film will be published online this autumn.

Student Master Of Arts World Society and Global Governance
I'm 25 years old, living in Zurich (Switzerland) and studying a Master of Arts programme in World Society and Global Governance at the University of Lucerne.
When I'm done studying I want to work as a journalist. I've already been doing several internships, of which two were at news shows at the Swiss Radio and Television (SRF). Apart from that I gained camera working skills from being a cameraman for two seasons of an entertainment show running on SRF.
I've beem to South Africa five years ago for some three months of voluntary work in a human rights office. At the moment I'm producing a documentary on post-Apartheid in a Cape Town township.
