Wildlife in Rainforest
More Habitat for wild Animals in the Amazon Rainforest.
Project Overview
CHUCHINI is a protected area and situated on hills in the Amazon Rainforest. Every year during the rainy season the area is flooded for 6 months. The hills become islands. Unfortunately, the surrounding area is under treat by deforestation, poaching, agriculture and other illegal activities. The animals come from far away to have a rest on the islands. We want to build 20 small islands around the existing hills to give animals more space to live.
Chuchini is a protected area and the only safe place. Unfortunately, the surrounding area is under treat by deforestation, poaching, agriculture and other illegal activities. The animals come from far away to have a rest on the islands. To prevent the populations from collapsing we want to create more habitat by building 20 smaller islands around the existing islands. Basically we give the animals more chance to survive!
To create a little safe haven for the animals we make small adjustments in the area. We will build 20 islands and provide it with endemic fruit plants and trees. The vegetation that we will plant give the animals year round fruit and shelter possibilities.
Chuchini is a privately owned, family run ecological and archaeological visitor sanctuary (Eco Reserve & Lodge) & a protected area since almost 50 years. The eco reserve is located 14 km north of Trinidad in Beni, in the Amazon region of Bolivia.
Our mission is to protect and preserve this unique habitat for everyone (animal and human) to save this piece of nature forever.
We do this entirely through the help of visitors, volunteers and donations; we receive no government support or funding.
2012 I have visited the Amazon Rainforest im Bolivia, the Chuchini Sanctuary near Trinidad. I fell in love with the nature and wildlife here, that's why I stayed as a volunteer in the Chuchini project. This is how I met my Bolivian husband. Originally I come from Switzerland, Zurich. Since 2013 I live and work here in the Bolivian Amazon Rainforest with my husband and twins in the family run Eco Reserve Chuchini.
