Windows to Ukraine
Help us protect people from the cold
Project Overview
Hundreds of thousands of buildings in Ukraine have been damaged by the war and millions of windows have been broken by Russian attacks and their shock waves. To help the people affected, we bring high-quality, used windows from Switzerland to Ukraine - 100-200 pieces per transport, depending on the size of the window. There they are installed to protect people from the cold and make their homes winter-proof.
Funding goals
-
Stage 1:
10.000 CHF
100% funded
Please help us to finance at least one window transport to Ukraine!
-
Stage 2:
20.000 CHF
100% funded
With this amount, we can finance two shipments of windows to Ukraine, and thereby protect twice as many people from the cold!
-
Finish Stage:
30.000 CHF
100% funded
We would be very happy if we could send even three or more window transports to Ukraine to protect as many people as possible from the cold of the approaching winter. Thank you very much for your support!
Before the arrival of winter, we would like to bring as many windows as possible to Ukraine so that they can be quickly installed there and people do not have to freeze in their homes. After all, winters in Ukraine are usually long and cold.
While prices for building materials in Ukraine have skyrocketed since the Russian invasion, thousands of high-quality used windows are disposed of in Switzerland every year.
In close partnership with the Basel-based association RE-WIN, we collect these used but still fully functional windows in Switzerland and bring them to Ukraine in the spirit of the circular economy. There, the windows are then quickly installed.
Libereco is recognized as a non-profit organization and will gladly provide all crowdfunders from Switzerland and Liechtenstein with a donation receipt for their tax return for their contribution to the window transports.
Our emergency assistance in Ukraine includes:
- Evacuations from destroyed areas
- Reconstruction projects
- Trauma recovery
- Delivery of relief supplies
In this way, we also drastically reduce the CO2 footprint of a window compared to the production of a new window.
In this way, Libereco and RE-WIN are contributing to the United Nations' sustainability goals.
We will also supply about five times more windows than we could buy new windows in Ukraine for the same money.
And finally, we will supply high-quality, long-lasting windows instead of low-quality, temporary windows that Ukraine currently has to import.
The windows are going to be installed in badly damaged private houses mainly in the Kramatorsk and Dnipro areas. AOS will coordinate and document the installation of the windows on site.
Libereco - Partnership for Human Rights is an independent Swiss-German non-governmental organization committed to the protection of human rights in Belarus and Ukraine.
"What I like most about this project is that we can tie up loose ends: In Switzerland, there are masses of super windows that are thrown away. In Ukraine, hundreds of thousands of people need new windows. That's where this project is a sustainable and sensible solution in terms of the circular economy."
"By transporting and installing used windows from Switzerland to Ukraine, we are not only helping with reconstruction, but also making a contribution against the waste of high-quality building materials in Switzerland. Therefore, this project makes perfect sense and provides tangible help on the ground."
"Now in autumn it is crucial to provide as many damaged apartments and houses as possible with windows to make them winter-proof. With our window deliveries, we can help the long-suffering people in Ukraine very directly and protect them from the winter cold."
"The transport of used windows to Ukraine combines winter relief with circular economy. The windows provide shelter from the harsh winter conditions in the devastated east of Ukraine. Your support improves living conditions and promotes environmental protection at the same time."
