Preserving and teaching cinematic cultural techniques.
Project Overview
Have you heard of Peter? Peter is the owner of a unique collection of film-related artifacts and equipment that he has collected with dedication over the years. The collection is a kaleidoscope of history, full of technical marvels. Our mission: We need money to digitize this collection, document the technical details and make them accessible to posterity - and that's where you come in!
Funding goals
-
Stage 1:
10.000 CHF
100% funded
10,000 francs, which is not enough to realize the project and is also not enough to preserve the collection - but - with this amount, we will realize the first 1000 of the 360-degree photographs of the objects
-
Stage 2:
35.000 CHF
100% funded
With this amount we finance the preservation of the collection, the project costs for planning, technology and infrastructure without fees. Work is carried out by volunteers without fees. With this amount, we finance the maintenance of the collection, the project costs for planning, technology and infrastructure without fees. -
Stage 3:
45.000 CHF
1% funded
This amount makes it possible to start research work on the individual objects together with universities and to work on an initial series of subject areas.
-
Stage 4:
55.000 CHF
0% funded
When this amount is reached, research and digitization will be fully implemented for all objects.
-
Finish Stage:
65.000 CHF
0% funded
Once this amount has been reached, the concept for implementing and programming the digital platform will be realized.
Why is this important?
Today's digital media and AI programs are changing our society to such an extent that it is important to research the development, functioning and influence of technologies on people's behavior and to make the findings available to schools, colleges and universities for the teaching of media literacy
In a further step, technology films and oral history recordings of users of these technologies are also planned, insofar as they are still available.
2 **Team of experts**: A bunch of clever minds documenting every detail of the artifacts and bringing the stories behind them to life.
3. **Online database**: A digital home for the collection, accessible to all the history buffs, students and curious noses out there.
4 **Physical objects**: A physical home for the objects in the collection in a memory institution so that they remain tangible in the future.
Historiav is an interdisciplinary group of media professionals, university lecturers, film producers and filmmakers who want to preserve knowledge about the cultural technology of audiovisual production for research, further education and for a wide audience.
A central concern of our association is the creation of a new type of digital platform that presents historical and current forms of audiovisual processes - cameras, sound equipment, analog and digital recording and playback processes - as formative cultural techniques. This platform is intended to offer a publicly accessible collection that is available for research and teaching at universities as well as other educational institutions and an interested general public.
I have been making a living from staging, projection, film and audiovisual productions for 50 years now.
During my work as a creative filmmaker, I was constantly fascinated by the ingenuity with which people invented sophisticated and complex technologies and devices to surprise and move audiences with audiovisual means.
This fascination has not only culminated in countless productions for my clients, some of them experimental, but also in an extensive collection of film technology equipment and systems from the last 200 years. The objects and systems in this collection show how the magic of audiovisual media was created and technically implemented over the course of time and how it shaped people's behavior. Knowledge that is being lost in today's rapid development.
I am nearing the end of my career and would like to share this knowledge and make it available to interested parties. That is what this project is all about.
