Support Openair Wipkingen
Will you help pay the bills?
Project Overview
The river. The roof. The stairs. For almost 20 years, Openair Wipkingen has been an important part of the cultural agenda in Wipkingen and the city of Zurich. A small neighborhood event has grown into a large festival that provides a stage for music and culture. Now the Openair needs 50,000 CHF to be able to continue.
Funding goals
-
Stage 1:
30.000 CHF
100% funded
With the donations from the first stage, we want to pay off our outstanding bills. Every year, we have high costs for infrastructure such as sanitation, water, electricity, and technology. We also have to pay for food and beverages, as well as the fees for our artists. Even if we don't manage to hold another festival, it's extremely important to us that we can pay all of our long-standing partners and suppliers, as well as our artists, for their work. Help us pay our bills <3
-
Stage 2:
40.000 CHF
100% funded
In addition to the financial expenses incurred during the festival, we also have running costs throughout the whole year. In order for our organization to remain liquid and to start planning another openair at all, we need your help here as well. Without a financial cushion, the weather is not the only burden we face. New regulations issued by the City of Zurich also present us with challenges. These not only complicate the approval process and implementation but also cause additional costs (e.g., floor protection mats) that strain our budget.

Finish Stage:
50.000 CHF
101% funded
The final stage of our crowdfunding ensures that we will be able to pay our acts a good wage for the next openair. So your contribution goes to our artists. It is important to us to ensure fair wages for the artists, in addition to the platform that an openair offers. As part of the Zurich cultural scene, we want to reward those who enrich our festival with their music.
We believe in collective work and that it makes many things possible. However, the rain this year has thrown a wrench in the works, leading us to be unable to pay some bills. We have high costs for infrastructure like sanitation, water, electricity, and technology. Additionally, there are material costs for beverages and food. It is important to us to pay our artists fairly, which is why the budget for fees should not be forgotten. Even if we don't manage to hold another festival, it is extremely important to us that we are able to pay all of our long-standing partners and suppliers, as well as our artists, for their work.
A celebration made possible by over 300 volunteers. Every year, Openair Wipkingen is made possible by countless hours of volunteer work. The festival does not depend on big companies as sponsors and is based on solidarity. To keep the festival going, we need your help. Selling drinks and food normally covers all of our expenses. This year, at least 6,000 fewer people visited us, resulting in a huge loss of income. Normally, the festival is a zero-sum game where no one earns money, so our emergency reserves have run out and cannot get us out of this situation. We wish for nothing more than to be able to hold the festival again in the coming years. Especially for the people to whom Openair Wipkingen means a lot, we want to continue to provide these two days full of music, exchange, and beautiful experiences.
Openair Wipkingen offers a free program every year, making an important contribution to the culture of Zurich. It provides an important platform for artists and musicians and offers a wonderful experience for many people, even those who cannot afford expensive concert tickets.
Unfortunately, the help of countless volunteers this year is not enough to carry on. We need the support of you, your grandmother, your neighbors, and ideally also your colleagues, so that we can celebrate the 20th anniversary together.
Help us keep Openair Wipkingen alive! Every contribution counts to keep Openair Wipkingen a place of meeting and cultural diversity. Donate now and secure the future of our beloved festival!
The OK Openair Wipkingen organizes the annual free Openair on the Wipkingerwiese and thus makes a valuable contribution to the cultural offerings of the city of Zurich. The association is based exclusively on the solidarity work of volunteers.
